On Friday, the school community of the European School celebrated a cheerful party in the schoolyard to mark School Europe Day. The motto "Children bring children closer to Europe" was a complete success. All children received a passport with which they could actively travel through Europe. Acting principal Nicole Behm began by greeting the children with her class in many European languages and the event got off to a musical start with the song "Little Europeans". Young and old alike enjoyed the good weather, lots of activities and a generous cake buffet. Each class sponsored a European country with games, knowledge and handicrafts. The children showed and imparted their knowledge and were able to learn new things about Europe in a playful way at the other class stands. Correspondence between the fourth grade and an Irish school class was on display in the school entrance. In the schoolyard, the children could learn how to play Viking chess like in Sweden, ski like in Austria or make castanets like those used in Spain. A big thank you goes to the parents who actively provided the colorful buffet with their food. The Söbbeke dairy also donated large wheels of cheese that could be won in the treasure hunt.
