On Wednesday morning the Hermann Löns School invited all parents and relatives to the "JeKits" summer concert in St. Agatha. The large church was also necessary to accommodate all actors and listeners. Up to the last pew, the central aisles were completely occupied.
The cooperation with the music school has now been in place for five years and all grades were able to proudly present what they have learned this school year. Even the first graders, who enjoy early musical education under professional guidance, contributed to the successful program. In addition to group lessons in the individual instruments, the second, third and fourth graders also practice playing in an orchestra every week. This takes place at the school and enables them to gain musical skills in the interaction of the various instruments, such as listening to each other, consideration and the development of musical hearing, even at a young age.
Now the two large orchestra groups as well as a recorder and a violin ensemble could show what they could do. From the well-known "Bruder Jakob" to the "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven, the little musicians, under the direction of the music school staff, played their practiced pieces with skill and confidence. The audience thanked them with a hearty applause.
JeKits - Jedem Kind Instrumente, Tanzen, Singen" is a cultural education program in elementary and special schools in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. JeKits is implemented in cooperation between non-school educational partners such as music schools or dance institutions and the schools. JeKits has three alternative focuses: Instruments, dancing or singing.
